Ebrahim Raisi Iran’s Leader was announced dead on Monday morning after the helicopter he was going in with other senior authorities went down in the country’s East Azerbaijan region.
The 63-year-old political heavyweight had for quite some time been viewed as the normal replacement for Preeminent Pioneer Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the greatest power in Iran.

The helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi was en route to Tabriz, following a dam opening ceremony on the Azerbaijan border. Tragically, a crash occurred, claiming the lives of Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and six others. The cause of the accident remains uncertain, prompting Iran’s Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, to launch an investigation.
Funeral proceedings for Ebrahim Raisi and his companions are scheduled to commence tomorrow in Tabriz at 9:30 am local time. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has declared five days of mourning in honor of the deceased.
Mohammad Mokhber has been appointed as acting president, with Ali Bagheri Kani assuming the role of foreign minister, formerly held by Amir-Abdollahian. Additionally, the election date has been set for June 28th.
